For example, you go to the cupboard for your favourite snack, there’s only two left you know you won’t have another chance to get any more for a few weeks because they’re only available from a speciality store which is out of town.
In a scarcity scenario, you may be tempted to take one now and hide one for later so nobody else can have the other one or you may decide to hide them both for later and have something else now.
If you had a cupboard full of them you’d just take one or you may think there’s so many I’ll come back later for one. Coming from a position of scarcity or abundance leads to completely different outcomes and the abundance mentality leads to a better more fulfilled life.
Adopting an Abundance Mentality
Being grateful will help you to lead a more abundant life. When you are grateful for what you have you’re not thinking about what you don’t have. You receive what you focus on.
If I tell you not to think of the colour blue, what do you think of? Blue. You can’t help it. If I tell you not to think of scarcity, what do you think of? Scarcity.
Tip 1 – Thoughts of Scarcity
Remove thoughts of scarcity from your life and replace them with thoughts of gratefulness. To do this all you need to do is re-frame your experience. Ask yourself better more empowering questions about the situation you are in.

There’s not enough space in your head to hold both thoughts at the same time so why bother filling it up with stuff that will make you miserable. It makes no sense. Fill your mind with stuff that will make you happy and you’ll lead a happier life
Tip 2 – Abundance Mindset
Another way of adopting an abundance mindset is to trick your mind into believing you have everything you want. If you want more money the first thing you should do is give 10% of your current income away.
Not in the future when you’ve achieved your goal, you need to do it now to make yourself believe there more than enough money to go around for everyone.
Tip 3 – Read
Success stories are an awesome way of developing an abundance mindset. There will be certain areas of your life where you already feel you have abundance and other areas where you don’t. Identify the areas where you feel scarcity and read at least 3 autobiographies of people who have achieved abundance in that area.
Tip 4 – Be Selective About the People You Spend the Most Time With
Spend less time with those who don’t have abundance in the areas you feel you’re lacking. As you try to climb the abundance ladder these people will attempt to drag you back down to their level.
People like people like themselves and if you start to go off down your own road you will instil a level of scarcity in them that will force them to try and bring you back to their level.
If you are the stronger willed you may be able to get them to follow you, if not, wean yourself away from them.
Tip 5 See the Big Picture
See the big picture, nobody’s life is perfect in every area, there’s always room for improvement. If you get bogged down in the detail, there will always be something that you desire but don’t have.

The abundance mindset is all about focusing on the good things you already have, to help you with this read stories about people who’ve already achieved what you want and spend less time with those around you who bring you down.
To kick start the abundance mindset you should first chunk up to a level where the scarcity fades away, once there give something away
By doing this you’re manipulating yourself into believing you have a life filled to the brim with all kinds of wealth, if it wasn’t how would you be able to give stuff away and rid yourself of the feeling of scarcity by something as simple as changing your viewpoint.
